Letter to the Broken Heart + 5 Psalms to Heal a Broken Heart

God's got a blessing with your name on it!

Dear Broken Heart,

The winds of life have rocked your boat,

Beaten down and torn apart,

It takes everything within you to stay afloat,

Salt water smacks you in the face,

As waves destroy everything you’ve built,

On the horizon you can barely recognize His grace,

Trying so hard, but still overwhelmed with guilt.

The weather was supposed to be clear,

Yet here you are fighting against the storm,

With no end in sight you fear,

Doubt clouds your mind,

Thoughts of “Will I ever see land again?” rush in,

Instead you are stumbling around blind,

Scared of being crushed.

You cry to the Master,

Lord, do you not care if I perish?

Do you not see my box of alabaster?

Just when you begin to once again feel calm,

The waves crash and you are pushed to your knees,

As you once more cry out, He brings to mind a psalm,

And for a time the world is at ease.

“I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth.”

With this you press on,

For even in your suffering,

There is joy in the dawn,

Trust in the Lord, your God,

When you are knocked down,

Rise once again in spite of it all,

Let no one take your heavenly crown.

God’s got a blessing

Anyone who says life is a bed of roses must live in a fairytale world. Life can be absolutely wonderful sometimes, even if for just brief moments. It is never perfect all the time though. There are days you feel as if you can’t go on anymore. You are so tired. Tired of fighting, tired of being strong, just tired. No matter what you do, or how hard you try, it is never enough. You try to pray, but all you do is cry. Some days you are here in the valley and it feels as though everyone’s mountains surrounding have trapped you alone.

As you find yourself here in this place, the only thing you can do is trust Him. God knows every single detail of every part of His creation from before time began to into eternity. His heart breaks seeing the pain you are experiencing, but He knows the beautiful future He has planned for you.

Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah

King Nebuchadnezzar created an idol and commanded that everyone bow down and worship it. One thing not thought of a lot when reading about this historic moment is how many of God’s people were part of those who obeyed. Makes you wonder what was running through their heads to think it was okay to obey earthly authority, while disobeying God’s authority.

Around 800 years prior God spoke to Moses and gave His commandments: “Thou shalt have no other gods before me. Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.” (Exodus 20:3-7)

We worship one God and His name is Jesus! We don’t worship some man made image that cannot breath, speak, feel, live. We worship Jesus, who breathed life into us, spoke the world into existence, feels our suffering and joy, died and rose again that we might live!

Looking back at Exodus 20:7, “shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.” His mercy is everlasting. God promises to show His mercy to those that love and obey Him.

Three Hebrew men knew this and refused to worship a false image. Because of their faith, they were cast into a fire that was so hot the flames slew the guards that threw them in. Yet when Nebuchadnezzar looked they were not harmed by the fire, their bonds were loosed, and he saw Jesus walking with them. If God can walk into the midst of the fire and protect these men, surely He can bring you out of whatever you are facing.

Remember who you serve. No matter how dire your situation is now, He will bring you through. Have faith and keep on believing it will all work out for the good.

You are more than enough

When voices whisper that you’ll never measure up, never do enough, just let them know that you may not on your own but through God you are more than enough! No matter what comes your way, you’re going to make it. You may hit some rough patches. You may stumble and fall. If you put your trust fully in the Lord though, nothing will destroy you.

Though your faith has been tried, your blessing is going to be so much greater than what you’re going through. Look up and claim your victory!

O, glorious day!

That finish line sure is looking sweeter and sweeter every day. There is going to be a glorious day when we have no more sorrow, no more pain. We are going to be happy, happy, happy with King Jesus! That’s what makes all this life worthwhile. In our pain we can keep our eyes on the prize knowing we are just passing by in this world.

Oh, I can’t wait to see that day and be together with Jesus, you, and all our brothers and sisters in the Lord.

In conclusion

Be an encouragement to others, uplift one another. We don’t always know when people are struggling and just need some positive words to help them through their situation.

If you are going through a trial right now, praise the Lord. We can bring victory on through our praise. Don’t give up hope. Your blessing is on its way!

5 Psalms to Heal A Broken Heart

I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth.

Be of good courage, and he shall strengthen your heart, all ye that hope in the Lord.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds.

[The righteous] cry, and the LORD heareth, and delivereth them out of all their troubles. The LORD [is] nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit. Many [are] the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivereth him out of them all. He keepeth all his bones: not one of them is broken.
